Staying at Central Pattaya Beach
Sun, Sea, sand and Nightlife
Until recent years accommodation in this part of town was restricted mainly to 3-star hotels aimed at guests who simply wanted to be close to the bars and who were happy with few frills other than access to a decent swimming pool. Now, however, with the addition of several new upmarket establishments along with a general improvement in its appearance the area should appeal to a wider range of tastes.
Most of the older, cheaper hotels are situated right in the soi 7 and 8 nightlife district. Usually offering decent rooms and facilities for the price, these hotels are still very popular though the attraction of having the bars right outside the main entrance may, for light sleepers at least, be offset by the party noise that goes on well into the early hours of the morning. By contrast the newer hotels have mostly been built on or near Beach Road still within easy walking distance of the bars but far enough away to escape the din.
As well as having plenty of local bars to enjoy, another advantage of this region for fans of the nightlife is that it is centrally placed relative to the city’s other hotspots which can all be reached easily by hopping onto one of the many passing baht buses.
There are so many restaurants in Pattaya that, wherever you are, there’s usually a good one to be found nearby but in this region they are particularly abundant. Reasonably priced expat-run establishments offering a range of western and Thai dishes are scattered all around the bar areas (full English breakfasts a specialty). These are now complemented by the big array of international and Thai cuisine to be found at CentralFestival PB including familiar fast food icons such as Burger King, McDonlds,KFC,Carls Jr and Sizzlers.
Our Choice of the Best Hotels Close to Walking Street
LK The Empress - built in 2011 this hotel is located right on Beach Road with the front rooms having great views of the bay. Close enough to walk to either Walking Street or Soi 7 night life but far away enough to escape their noise though traffic din may annoy some. The LK Empress is generally highly rated in guest reviews with the high room standard and location often being noted as strong points.
Sea Me Spring Hotel - an upmarket hotel (built 2010) close to the beach and nightlife. High standard accommodation with access to a nice rooftop infinity poool. Guest comments are generally favourable.
Wave Hotel - a new (built 2013) 21-room luxury boutique hotel located just across the road from the beach. Not cheap but very well-rated by guests to date.
The Bayview Pattaya - A 260 room hotel with large grounds that can be accessed from either the beach side or from Second Road. An older but well maintained property in one of the most convenient locations in the tourist district. Guest comments are mostly positive with the prime location and nice pool being remarked upon. Not the best value for money during the high season but low season discounts make it a good option for some.
View Talay 6 Pattaya Beach - spacious, nicely appointed serviced apartments right in the heart of the tourist district. The room standard is very good considering the price and prime beach location (some also have excellent sea views). For travellers who do not need full hotel services View Talay 6 offers good value for money.
Hilton Hotel Pattaya - built in 2010 the luxurious Pattaya Hilton sits atop the massive Central Festival mall complex overlooking Pattaya Beach from quite a height. As might be expected its expensive accommodation but is of a very high standard which is reflected in mostly glowing customer reviews. One point that travellers with their own vehicles may wish to note is that access to carparking may be difficult at times as traffic near the entrance can get congested.
Flipper Lodge - right in the bar area of sois 7 and 8 so guests will usually be visiting Pattaya to enjoy the nightlife which makes it probably not the best choice for those seeking peace and quiet. However, for those that do want to party the Flipper Lodge has many local bars right outside its doors plus allows easy access to other busy areas such as Walking Street via baht bus. As long as the location suits, the Flipper Lodge is reasonably priced and is generally well-rated by guests.
Hard Rock Hotel - a 323-room resort in an excellent Beach Road location near to shops and nightlife but just far enough away to escape the noise. Fairly-priced for the standard and very popular. Guest reviews are usually good with many giving special mention to the superb swimming pool.
Pattaya Discovery Beach Hotel - a reasonably-priced 168 room hotel on Beach Road near Soi 6. A good location with easy access to nightlife areas and shopping via baht bus. If the nearby Hard Rock Hotel prices are a bit high then this less expensive hotel may be worth considering. Guest reviews are generally good.
